A Study of Role and Method in Propagation of Buddhism of Mahapajapatigotami Theri

Abstract

          The research on “The Study of Role and Method in the Propagation of Buddhism of Mahãpajãpatigotamī Therī” have three objectives; 1) to study the propagation of Buddhism and the role of ladies in Theravada Buddhism,  2) to study the life and the role of Mahãpajãpatigotamī Therī in the propagation of Buddhism, 3) to study of achievement of propagation of Buddhism by Mahãpajãpatigotamī Therī.

          The result of research found that:
          The propagation of Buddhism are to bring a noble doctrine which being purity by nature spring from the wisdom and enlightenment of the Buddha to transfer to people to have leaned and bring a Buddhist principles to practice. Then they will be good person and have a molarity such as Principle of three Benefits (Attha), the Three Principle of Education (Tisikkha) and so on. The follower in both man and women has brought the Buddha teaching to spread to all Buddhist by principles of the Buddha’s style or manner of teaching. But it can be change the way which something must be adapts to person, geography, state of social, state of various environments. The role of ladies as Buddhist follower and the role in spreading of Buddhism are very important in procedure of Buddhism.

          The role in the forming of Bhikkhuni as a result of Mahãpajãpatigotamī Therī being ordained as Bhikkhuni by the Buddha, which is the origin of Bhikkhuni in the world and propagate Buddhism. In the helping women faithful in Buddhism by showing a clear explanation of the teachings of the Buddha to women who came to see him enlightened. The glorious behavior of the Theri and supernatural powers that make people believe and ordain in Buddhism

          The achievement in the propagation of Buddhism of Mahãpajãpatigotamī Therī caused by applying the principles, methods of propagation of Buddhism to people, places, events, etc. which suggested by the Buddha, such as the principles of Buddhist style in teaching or even performing various supernatural power, practices to be a good model, venerable behavior in order to give people who are not yet faithful to Buddhism to have faith, and those who are already faithful are stable.
