Potential of Community in Narcotics Problem Management in Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

          The purposes of this research article were to study the level of community potential for solving of drug problem in community at Chaiyaphum Province and to study activities for solving of the drug problem in community at Chaiyaphum Province. The study was a mixed method research. The sample was selected from community in purposive sampling where got Land’s Mather Fund in 2018 in Chaiyaphum province such as 1) Nongyarungga Village, Ponthong Sub-district, Muaeng District 2) Huakhua Village, Banbua Sub-district, Kasetsomboon District 3) Ratburana Village, Chaothong Sub-district, Pukdeechumphon District 4) Sokkro Village, Nongchim Sub-district, Noensanga District and 5) Kudkhonkaen Village, Banpetch Sub-district,  Phukheaw District. The instruments used were questionnaires for evaluated the opinion level of the community potential for solving of the drug problem and structured interview was open-ended for collected qualitative data about approaches for adaptation community potential to solve the drug problem.  The statistics used for quantitative data processing were frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The content analysis method was used to qualitative data.

       The results of the research revealed that:

  1. The level of community potential for solving of drug problem in community at Chaiyaphum Province was moderate level (=3.73). In addition, the results revealed that were moderate level all topic, include community leaders and the potential for solving of drug problem, community's potential in dealing with the drug problems in building a team with the drug solution, the participation of people in the community with solution to the drug and community potentials in the handling of drug issues in beliefs, tradition, culture and Buddhist principles in community for the drug solution. These results be considered that the community potential in the handling of drug problems consistent with the development of the community's strength to eliminate drug problems. The community is an intimate and ongoing community-friendly mechanism for which the best mechanisms are the people in community care for their community be considered that in the community, there is a leader in dealing with appropriate drug problems and consistently continuity. In addition, the people in the community were participated in the handling of self-community drug issues, as well as participating in government. The community can handle drug problems as well as develop into the community's strength to eliminate drug problems.

          2. The five community-based deployment guidelines, which were the community received awards from the Land’s Mather Fund contest of the Province were enhancing the community's potential in the locals both people and core leader by understanding the community drug issues itself. Using the surveying approach by the community meeting to recognize the risk groups and observe behavior. At the same time, using a guide in the potential of the village/community as the local wisdom, culture, traditions create a variety of activities in the community, such as the integration of handicraft enterprises to increase revenue and spend time in handy. A tradition of temples and communities in various merit activities such as making merit of the rice soul (Bunkhankhao) of Nongyarungga Village, Muang Chaiyaphum, etc. The participation in the planning approach is involved in solving the drug problems and solving other related problems that are causing the drug problems. It must conform to the lifestyle, tradition, culture and apply the potential capital and wisdom in the community itself. Communities have been creating guidelines for community rules together. Therefore, the community has been using the community's potential to manage drug problems in the community, make the community take care of the drug problems self-reliant community sustainable.
