The Development of English Lessons on Local Culture for Prathomsuksa Students in Rimkhongwittaya School, Rimkhong Sub-district, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

            The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop English lessons on local culture for Prathomsuksa 4 students in Rimkhongwittaya School, Rimkhong Sub-district, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province and 2) to investigate the satisfaction of English teachers in the school towards the English lessons on local culture. This survey research studied the whole population which were 5 English teachers in Rimkhongwittaya School in 2022. The research instruments included English lessons on local culture for Prathomsuksa 4 students and the questionnaire on the satisfaction of English teachers towards the English lessons. Statistics used in data analysis were mean and standard deviation.
            The research results found that:
            1. The English lessons on local culture for Prathomsuksa 4 students were created, comprising the contents of Tai Lue culture; food, cloth weaving and costumes. Each of the lessons integrates listening, speaking reading and writing skill development with the emphasis on verbal communication. The overall quality of the lessons was at a good level. The quality assessment for the benefits of lessons and the pictures and instructional media in the lessons were at a very good level. The quality of the content, the language and the activities in the lessons were at a good level, respectively.
             2. The overall satisfaction of English teachers in Rimkhongwittaya School towards the English lessons was at the highest level. The satisfaction towards the pictures and instructional media in the lessons and the content were at the highest level while the language was at a good level.
