Development of Enhancing Teacher Competency Model in the 21st Century for Small-sized Schools under the Foundation of the Church of Christ in Thailand

Abstract

             This research aimed to: 1) study the needs of teachers in enhancing 21^st-century competencies in small-sized schools under the Foundation of the Church of Christ in Thailand; 2) design and develop a competency enhancement model; 3) evaluate the developed model; 4) compare the results of model implementation before and after the trial; and 5) study the model’s efficiency, effectiveness, and value. The statistics used in this study included mean, standard deviation, and dependent t-test.
             The research findings revealed the following:
             1) The overall need for enhancing teacher competencies in 21^st-century education in small-sized schools under the Foundation was at the highest level. Four specific areas of high necessity were identified: needs assessment, team development, technology and innovation, and action planning for competency enhancement, 2) The developed model, referred to as the "NTPLS Model," consists of five components: Needs Assessment, Team Development, Planning, Learning through Technology and Innovation, and Sharing Knowledge. The content validity index ranged from 0.80 to 1.00, indicating high alignment and relevance, 3) The experimental results showed that the post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test scores at the .01 level of statistical significance, and 4) The results of implementing the model in terms of efficiency, effectiveness, and value were rated at the highest level.
