Professional Performance of the Head of the Child Development Center under the Local Administrative Organization Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

The research aimed to examine the performance of the head of the child development centers under the auspices of Local Administrative Organization, Chaiyaphum Province, based on the 12 professional standards.  The sample comprised 297 child development center teachers, Five point scale questionnaire was the research tool, while the statistics used in data analysis included percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The research results revealed that the overall picture and each aspect of the performance based on professional standards by the head of the said child development centers were found at a high level (4.16). When considering the performance of each aspect, it was at high level too.  The top 5 rankings based on means were 1) being a role model for learners (4.47), 2) cooperation with others in the educational institution (4.28), 3) creative collaboration with other in communities (4.24),  4) creating opportunities for learners to learn in every situation (4.20), 5) taking into account the consequences for learners from decision-making (4.17). Suggestions for local administrators: the local administrators should encourage the heads of child development centers and teachers to attend professional training programs organized by various organizations for self-development and professional development of teachers.
