EFFICIENCY OF THE CLERGY GOVERNANCE OF THE MONKS IN KHLONG CHIK SUBDISTRICT IN BANG PA-IN DISTRICT, PHRA NAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE

Abstract

Objectives of this research article were: 1. To study the factors affecting the monk administration at Khlong Chik Sub-District, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; and 2. To present the administrative effectiveness of the monks in Khlong Chik Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data were collected through questionnaires from 113 samples who were monks at Khlong Chik Sub-District, Bang Pa-in District, and by in-depth interviewing 10 key informants. The statistical analysis used Pearson’s correlation coefficient, while interview data were analyzed using content descriptive interpretation.

The research findings revealed that: 1. The key management factors influencing the monks administration effectiveness at Khlong Chik Sub-District included planning, organizing, and supervision, while the main good administration factors were morality, responsibility, cost-effectiveness, rule of law, and transparency; 2. The monks administration effectiveness at Khlong Chik Sub-District was outstanding in integrating Buddhist monastic discipline with modern approaches, promoting Dhamma education, meditation practice, and continuous supervision of monks and novices, alongside transparent monitoring and evaluation in accordance with good governance principles. Dispute resolution emphasized peaceful means and mediation to foster unity, while encouraging participation in addressing conflicts and coordinating with external stakeholders. Leadership and supervision focused on developing morality alongside effective oversight, with the integration of technology to enhance monitoring the administrative efficiency.
