Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to construct and identify the efficiency of instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students following criteria at 80/80, and 2) to implement the instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII  students by 2.1) to comparing  the ability of analytical reading skills before  and  after learning with instruction package, and 2.2) studying students analytical reading skills during using the instructional package. The research procedure comprised  of 2 steps of research and development process were as followed: The first step was construct and identify the efficiency of the instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students consisted of 4 units which content was drawn  from fable, news, article, short stories. Total time was 12 hours, and then inspected its quality by 5 experts to examine the appropriateness of the instructional package, and then tried out with grade VII students following criteria 80/80. The research instruments were 4 units of the instructional packages and the instructional package evaluation forms. The second step was implement of the instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students. The sample group was 36 grade VII students, the first semester, academic year 2015 at Banhindatratbumrung School. Research design was One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research instrument were evaluation forms the analytical reading skills and the analytical reading skills assessment. Research finding were as follows:
 1. The instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students, consisted of 6 steps were; step 1: preview, scanning and skimming, step 2: question, making questions, step 3: read, read carefully and find the main idea, step 4: recite, writing narration, step 5: review, read for understanding, and step 6: reflect, giving opinions. The results revealed that the instructional package was appropriate at the highest level (gif.latex?\bar{x} = 4.65, S.D. = 0.50). The effectiveness of the instructional package was 80.33/87.71.
 2. The results of implementing the instructional package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students, were
2.1  The analytical reading skills by instruction package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students was higher than before learning with instruction package at the significance level of .01.
2.2  The results of study competency analytical reading skills for grade VII students that learning by instruction package using PQ4R to enhance analytical reading skills for grade VII students were instruction package from fable was 2.32, instruction package from news was 2.48, instruction package from article was 2.45, and instruction package from short story was 2.70, the overall average score of analytical reading skills each instructional package of good level.
