Using technology to teach English to step into Thailand 4.0

Presently, the application of technologies and internet for teaching English purposes have been spectacularly realized across a variety of disciplines. In terms of foreign language teaching and learning; researchers, educators, and teachers are aware of the increasingly prominent role of technologies and internet for teaching English. The article, therefore, manifests interesting research findings and opinions concerning the usage of technologies and internet in the sphere of language education. In the first section, the emphasis is put on the new trends of teaching English in Thailand 4.0. Secondly, given the suggestions on how technologies and internet should be used in teaching English in Thailand4.0. Then, technologies and internet for learning and teaching English are discussed through contrastive points of view based on a literature study of researchers and educators during 2012-2017. Instead of reviewing extensive advantages of technologies and internet for both teachers and learners, limitations are also discussed, particularly for the teachers to gain a critical insight as to how using technologies and internet may affect language learners and classrooms. Finally, suggestions and recommendations of the author for integrating technologies and internet into language classroom are provided in order to maximize the exploitation of technologies to its full potential to reach the target of Thailand 4.0
