THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF WOVEN-FABRIC CLOTHES OF THE COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE OF FARMERS’ HOUSEWIFE GROUP IN NONG SAWAN VILLAGE, UDON THANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The design and development of woven-fabric clothes of the community enterprise of farmers’ housewife group in Nong Sawan in Udon Thani aimed to: 1) to investigate the weaving-community product contexts, 2) to design and develop the woven-fabric-clothes products, and 3) to evaluate the users’ satisfaction towards the designed and developed woven-fabric clothes. The sample in this study consisted of the weaving community enterprise as well as the users. In addition, the research instruments were interview and questionnaire regarding the satisfaction. The data was analyzed by employing descriptive statistics including percentage, average as well as standard deviation.

            The results elucidated that 1) the community enterprise of farmers’ housewife group in Nong Sawan village, Udon Thani province had a potential to weave Mudmee fabric, Khit fabric and Yokdok fabric which all of them had a unique pattern based on each identity. However, they had been presenting some weaknesses in terms of low price and monotonous repetitive design that entailed difficulties on distribution. 2) The design and development of jacket emphasizing the market of teenagers as well as working people by applying an inspiration from the characteristics of diamond representing the group identity to create the new pattern. 3) The findings of users’ satisfaction on the designed and developed clothes demonstrated that there were a high level of the utility (an average = 4.11), the beauty (an average = 4.18) as well as the distribution potential (an average = 4.19).
