STUDY THE WISDOM OF THAI HERBS UTILIZATION OF FOLK HEALER: A CASE STUDY OF FOLK HEALER IN NAM MONG SUB-DISTRICT, THA BO DISTRICT, NONG KHAI PROVINCE.

Abstract

Folk healers are people who have knowledge and ability for health promotion and care of local people with the wisdom of Thai traditional medical that has been inherited from their ancestors. Knowledge of folk healers is worth for conservation. Therefore, the present research aimed to study the wisdom of Thai traditional medicine in herbs for treatment of various diseases and illnesses with herbs of Mr.Samon Ihsi Baan Nam Mong, Tha Bo District, Nong Khai Province. This study collected the knowledge and wisdom of folk healer, inheritance, and experience including rituals, beliefs, treatment, and Thai herbal medicine recipes of folk healer. The results of this study showed that, Mr.Samon Ihsi inherited knowledge and wisdom of traditional healers from ancestors and had more than 10 years of therapeutic experience, with expertise in herbs for treating gastric, hernia, prolapsed uterus, blocked duct, diabetes and hypertension and maintenance of body which has beliefs and rituals to involve in treatment for these diseases However, there are still no collection and arrangement  a textbook, herbals medicine and inherited wisdom of traditional healers. Therefore, the knowledge and wisdom of Mr.Samon Ihsi is worth for further conservation and inheritance.
