MUSIC COMPOSITION: “THA-NA” THE GRACEFUL THAI - CHINESE HARMONY FOR WIND ENSEMBLE

Abstract
The music composition: “Tha-na” the graceful Thai - Chinese harmony for wind ensemble is a musical composition for wind orchestra created to reflect the historical and cultural relationship between Thailand and China in the context of Chao Nakhon In (Nagarindra Raja). The objectives of this creative work were to compose an original piece for wind orchestra and to disseminate the work at an international conference in the field of fine and applied arts. The creative process consisted of six stages: 1) studying the historical relationship between Thailand and China, 2) examining the aesthetic characteristics of melodies relevant to the compositional concept, 3) composing the principal melodic materials, 4) studying orchestration principles for wind orchestra, 5) arranging and developing the harmonic structure, and 6) presenting the completed work at an international academic conference. The resulting composition conveys cultural identity through contemporary musical language, contributes to knowledge in music composition, and demonstrates an approach to integrating historical and cultural elements into contemporary creative practice.
