INTERPRETATION AND LANGUAGE TACTICS THROUGH SONGS ABOUT THE COVID-19 STIUATION

Abstract

The purposes of this paper were to study of interpretation and language tactics through songs about the COVID-19 situation via www.kapook.com and www.Youtube.com between January and July 2020 by choosing a random sample of 41 songs. The findings revealed that 1) there were 8 characteristics respectively found in terms of interpreting such as giving advice on lifestyle, encouragement, performance of medical personnel, giving support, and building unity during  epidemic situation, epidemic social conditions effecting patient symptoms as well as the performance of government agencies, and 2) linguistic tactic that composed of 2.1) lexical tactic, which 5 characteristics were found, including repetition, pun, English transliteration and dialect; and 2.2) visual tactic, which 7 characteristics were found, including reaction, hyperbole, metaphor, personification, declaration, diction and nouns. Interpretation and the linguistic tactics through the music related to the COVID-19 situation could be presented on storytelling of good value to people, society, and organizations through the composers who have used language tactics to deliver the songs in an interesting way.
