Adaptation of the Novel “Ploeng Bun” to a Television Drama

Abstract

        This research aimed to investigate the adaptation of a novel, Ploeng Bun, to a Television Dra- ma and factors affecting the adaptation. The research analyzed the novel, Ploeng Bun, and the a Television Drama, Ploeng Bun, broadcast on Channel 3 in 2017. The research employed quali- tative methods including textual analysis, document analysis, and in-depth interviews. The result revealed that the adaptation of the novel to a a Television Drama included three key strategies: the adaptation of the story, the adaptation of novel elements, and the adaptation of plot development. Factors affecting the adaptation were story, audience, media duration, and producer/creator.
