Narration Meaning and Fantasy Theme of Male Homosexuality on Online Literature

This research aimed to study narration, meaning and fantasy theme of male homosexuality on online literature. The study explored the storytelling which conveys the meanings of male homosexuality and the fantasy theme of online literature readers. The concept of storytelling, the semiotic study guidelines, concept of fantasy theme, concept of male homosexuality, concept of online literature and social media usage were employed. The sources of this study were from the online literature named “Emperor Grotesque” on website fictionlog.co and viewpoints of the online readers collected from the focus group interview. The findings showed that the storytelling of male homosexuality on online literature consisted of six components which were; theme, character, point of view, conflict, setting and plot. There were additional components of the online literature which were style of the author in using language and the plot of online literature for publishing on social media. The meanings that described the male homosexuality of online literature were the meaning of identity and sexual orientation, the meaning of love and the meaning towards char- acters which express the surrounding society of male homosexuality. For the fantasy themes of online readers, it was found that they had the fantasy theme of identity and sexual orientation of male homosexuality, the fantasy theme of love of male homosexuality, and the fantasy theme of the surrounding society of male homosexuality.
