Principle of creative poster design for communication: The successful case-studies at international competitions

Abstract

        Principle of creative poster design for communication from the successful case-studies at international competitions is a study of award winning posters from international competitions. It aims to identify principle of the efficient creative poster designs that could bring to teach and develop students’ capability of design, because a good poster has to communicate and catch the audience attention in a short glimpse. Therefore, it is difficult for student to design the effective posters. This is a qualitative research which is a researcher has studied groups of sophomore students at Communication Design Program at Mahidol University International College in order to create creative posters for the international competitions. The findings of this study suggest that to have a good poster design that meets international standard, a designer has to focus on the relationship of 5 elements which are 1) Ways of presentation, 2) Techniques of visual design, 3) Semiotics, 4) Type of image, and 5) Headline all of them are the key elements of Principle of creative poster design for communication.
