Abstract

        The objective of “Us: The symbolic of political and psychoanalysis in movies.” are analyzing the political symbol to seize the power of the society in movies, also to study the psychoanalysis in the movie “Us” (2019) which uses the political symbol to judge the incapable characters and marginalized who can’t make a decision by themselves. Also the theory of psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud are used to symbolize the characters to represent the Id Ego and Superego. Those are explained the behavior of characters and we study them by Qualitative Research and Textual Analysis

        The results are split into 2 parts. One, The analysis of state power according to “Hegemony” by Antonio Gramsci by the symbolic of Family in the movie. the other is Sigmund Freud’s Psychoanalytic Theory by using “Shadow” as a symbol of “Id” and “Frontlines” as to represent “Super Ego” The article wants to criticize the movies as a means to reflecting the truth and the knowledge which is expressed in the movies.
