Where Does Thai Data Journalism Stand in the World: A Comparison of the Context in Thailand with Global Trends

Data Journalism is an interdisciplinary field that amalgamates journalistic skills with data science, recognized as a transformative innovation in the modern media industry. However, this process remains relatively novel in several regions, particularly outside the contexts of Europe and the United States. Thus, it is of significant interest to discern the current standing of data journalism in Thailand within the global landscape. This scholarly article presents its content in four sections: 1) an exhaustive overview of the evolution of data journalism from its inception to its current state in Thailand, 2) an examination of the present utilization of data journalism in Thailand, 3) a comparative analysis of data journalism practices in Thailand and globally, and 4) a summary of key learnings and future trends. This article aims to propose directions for the enhancement of data journalism in Thailand and serves as a reference of this topic.
