Abstract

The study, titled "Perspectives and Satisfaction of Organization Members towards the Operations of the Thailand Consumers Council," aims to investigate the perspectives, assess satisfaction levels, and gather suggestions from representatives of the Thailand Consumers Council in Bangkok regarding the council's operations during fiscal year 2022. Data were collected through a focus group discussion to gain experiential insights and through a questionnaire to gather perspectives and assess the satisfaction of council representatives.

The results show that 1) the representatives of the council in the Bangkok area who attended the meetings are predominantly elderly individuals, unencumbered by work-related responsibilities, and possess extensive experience in driving consumer protection network activities over a considerable period. Consequently, they possess both the time and expertise to effectively lead activities within the area.

In terms of familiarity and confidence in the consumer protection organization, the representatives of the council in the Bangkok area who attended the meetings demonstrate a high level of awareness of the organization, knowledge of individuals or staff who handle complaints, understanding of complaint procedures, and awareness of channels for lodging complaints. This reflects the potential of members who have collaborated with the Thailand Consumers Council, enabling them to carry out fundamental activities in protecting and safeguarding consumers from being exploited or disadvantaged in purchasing or using goods and services.

In terms of the perspectives, satisfaction, and expectations regarding the role according to the missions of the Thailand Consumers Council, it is found that the Thailand Consumers Council should increase its roles in various aspects, including enhancing support and assistance to consumer organizations at the provincial and local levels, pursuing cases related to consumer rights violations, supporting and assisting members in disputes involving rights violations in court, and increasing involvement in litigation or assistance in filing cases for consumers who have been violated in their rights.
