Development of risk communication and health hazards at Chong Jom is the trade market the frontier Thailand - Cambodia in Surin province

Abstract

        This research is aimed to study a context of Chong Jom market, problem, and a route of communication for risk of health and disease via a leader of thought.  Four stages of the study were conducted; exploring, develop, pilot, evaluate and implement.  Result found that the leader of thought is a key person taking knowledge- message from healthcare providers to people living in Chong Jom market (border of Thailand and Cambodia.  Most of health information are Dengue fever, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, tuberculosis, AIDS, influenza, diarrhea, bird flu, leprosy.  Mobile media were published as CD, spot, and pamphlets with bilingual languages.  Before an implement of the media, the study found 48.2% of people living there having knowledge of health, and disease and increased to be 54.6% after the implementation. The positive attitude for good health promotion and prevention is 71.7% and improved to be 97.4% after the implementation.  The one year before the implementation, attitude for good health promotion and prevention is 23% and 32.8% as after, significantly.  The implementation of communication for risk of health and disease via a leader of thought should be raised to reduce a risk of problem of the disease along the border.
