Abstract

This article entitled to study the role of emotion in the theory of ethics and to critically study the role of emotion from the theory of Carla Bagnoli. This is a qualitative research done by studying academic documents. In the research, it was found that Bagnoli discussed the important role of emotion in ethical theory. These are the role in response to external events called a reactive emotions and the role in motivating action called a residual emotions. Bagnoli sees that these two roles are not enough to produce the desired action. A concept of respect must also be applied along with practical reason. The researchers found that if the process of response and residual sensation were compared to orange pulp, On the orange peel there is a process that promotes positive feelings in the mind along with moral norms. There is no need for a concept of respect to be coupled with practical reason. And the orange peel process that the researcher deems appropriate is Gilligan's ethics of care.
