Leadership Development of the Sangha in Kamphaeng Phet Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study Buddhadhamma principles and related theories; 2) to study general conditions; and 3) to present guidelines for leadership development of the Sangha in Kamphaeng Phet Province. This was a mixed methods research. For qualitative research, data were collected by in-depth interviews of 20 people and a focus group discussion of 11 persons by using descriptive content analysis techniques. In terms of quantitative research, questionnaires was distributed to 120 samples. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and the standard deviation. The results of the research were found that 1) Buddhadhamma principles and related theories were Sappurisadhamma, Agati, Aparihaniyadhamma, Majjhimapathipada, Atthangikamagga and Sati Principles. In terms of the theory, it was the development theory of leadership in exchange, transformational and ethical aspect; 2) for the general conditions of the leadership of the Sanga in Kamphaeng Phet Province, It was found that the Sangha's opinions on the general conditions of the development of the Sangha's leadership in the Sangha Administration Region 4 overall were at a high level ( = 4.37). When considering each aspect, it was found that the Sangha's opinions towards the development of leadership were at a high level in all aspects; 3) guidelines for developing leadership of the Sangha, namely  Dutiyapapanikasutta and the Sanghasopanasutta were  3.1) Cakkhuma: having a vision requires developing leadership through sharing experiences; 3.2) Vidhuro: working expertise requires developing leadership through rotation of tenure; 3.3) Niassayasampanno: having good human relations; 3.4) Viyatto: competence; 3.5) Vinito: discipline; 3.6) Visarado: courage; 3.7) Bahusuto: very educated; and 3.8) Dhammanudhammapatipanno: keeping the right thing in the right place.
