Students’ Opinions toward the Safety Management of Dormitories around the University: a Case Study of Dormitories around Mahidol University Salaya Campus

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to study the opinions of students toward the safety management of dormitories around the University; and 2) to compare students’ opinions toward the safety management of dormitories around the university. It was a quantitative research. A questionnaire was used to collect data. A sample group was 400 Mahidol University students with a content validity between 0.66-1.00 and a confidence value of .953. Data were analyzed by t-test and one-way analysis of variance. Pairwise differences were obtained using LSD determination. The research findings were as follows: 1) the level of students’ opinions toward the safety management of the dormitories around the university, overall and all aspects was at a high level. When considering each side, it was found that the level was at a high level for 2 aspects, namely the prevention and suppression of fire; and 2) in terms of a comparison of students' opinions toward the safety management of dormitories around the university classified by gender and the year of study, it was found that different genders had no different opinions on safety management of dormitories around the university. On the other hand, students of different years had their opinions on the safety management of the campus dormitories, disaster prevention and mitigation and aspects of safety were different with statistical significance at the 0.05 level as follows: 1) in terms of accident prevention and mitigation, Second, third and fourth year students had higher opinions than first year students. In addition, third year students had higher opinions than second and fourth year students; 2) in case of safety, the 3^rd year students had higher opinions than the 1^st year, 2^nd year and 4^th year students.
