Strategies for Morals and Ethics Development of the Students at Thailand National University Sports

Abstract
The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the level of behavioral practices; and 2) to study the strategies for developing morality and ethics of the students at National Sports University. It was a mixed-method research. The quantitative study used a questionnaire on behavioral practices of the students at National Sports University with an IOC value of .92. The qualitative study used an interview form. The population used in this study was all 512 students of the National Sports University, Lampang Campus, who registered in the academic year 2021. 10 related educational personnel were interviewed, including 5 assistant vice presidents for student affairs, 5 assistant vice presidents for academic affairs, 5 responsible persons for the health business management curriculum, and 5 lecturers of the morality and ethics course, one lecturer of the citizenship role course, and one lecturer of the humanities and self-development course. Data analyzed were percentages, and standard deviations. Data were also analyzed by inductive interpretation to draw conclusions. The research results found that 1) 1) the students of Thailand National Sports University, Lampang Campus had the level of behavioral practices of students in 5 aspects, where the aspect with the highest score is the aspect of gratitude, while the aspect of kindness, honesty, discipline and responsibility, and thriftiness had the level of behavior in that order; and 2) the strategies for developing morality and ethics of the Thailand National Sports University students had 5 strategies: 2.1) teaching to enhance students’ discipline and responsibility to instill graduate characteristics of morality and ethics according to the university’s philosophy to complement and complete the desired graduate characteristics of Thailand National Sports University, 2.2) organizing student development activities aimed at organizing student development activities to enhance students’ discipline, responsibility, determination in working, and public-mindedness, 2.3) using good examples, 2.4) creating the school environment, and 2.5) involving the community in organizing extra-curricular activities.
