Innovation Development in Risk Management for Construction Projects of Thanasap Group Management Company Limited

Abstract
The purposes of this research article were 1) to study the current situation, problems, and needs in managing risks in construction projects of Thanathip Group Management Co., Ltd.; and 2) to develop innovations in managing risks in construction projects of the company. This was a qualitative research. The target groups were selected by purposive sampling, namely 1) in-depth interviews target group: they were 18 employees and executives of the company with more than 5 years of experience; 2) brainstorming target group: they were 30 employees and executives of the company with more than 5 years of experience; and 3) focus group discussions target group: they were 9 executives and related experts with more than 10 years of experience. The research instruments were in-depth interviews forms, brainstorming forms, and focus group discussions forms. Content analysis and data triangulation were used. The research results found that 1) for the current situation of the company, there was a risk management carried out by only some employees using the Job Safety Analysis tool and risk criteria as specified by the company. The main problems were as follows: the participation in risk management was not comprehensive for all levels of employees, and the frequency of training activities to promote knowledge and participation was not enough. The main needs were to have all levels of employees participate in every step of risk management, organize activities to promote participation of all levels of employees regularly, and increase the frequency of risk management training; 2) the development of the company's risk management innovation was a project-based practice. The risk management innovation consisted of 5 projects as follows: (1) Action Plan Project for Risk Management (Action Plan), (2) Site Patrol for Safety Project, (3) project to develop a training plan to promote knowledge and participation in risk management, (4) Risk Management Manual Development Project, and (5) Safety Wise Sharing Project. All projects focused on promoting the participation of all levels of employees in risk management.
