Abstract

This research aimed to 1) compare students’ futures thinking ability before and after learning through the geographic inquiry process, 2) compare students’ learning achievement before and after learning through the geographic inquiry process, and 3) examine students’ satisfaction after learning through the geographic inquiry process. The participants were 11 first-year students enrolled in the Geoinformatics Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, during the first semester of the 2025 academic year. They were selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments comprised (1) lesson plans based on the geographic inquiry process, (2) a futures thinking ability test with an overall reliability coefficient of 0.85, (3) a learning achievement test with an overall reliability coefficient of 0.84, and (4) a student satisfaction questionnaire with an overall reliability coefficient of 0.88. Experts validated the content validity of all instruments, and their reliability coefficients met acceptable standards. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The results revealed the following: 1) the students’ futures thinking ability after learning through the geographic inquiry process was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level, t(10) = 8.354, p < .001; 2) the students’ learning achievement after learning through the geographic inquiry process was significantly higher than before learning at the .05 level, t(10) = 11.072, p < .001; and 3) the students’ satisfaction after learning through the geographic inquiry process was at the highest level.
