Development of an Innovative Prototype for Promoting Conservation-Based Learning of Art and Cultural Heritage in the Pak Phraek Old Community

Abstract

The objectives of this research article were 1) to develop an innovative prototype for promoting conservation-based learning of Art and Cultural Heritage in the Pak Phraek old community; and 2) to study the effectiveness of using an innovative prototype for promoting conservation-based learning of Art and Cultural Heritage in the Pak Phraek old community. The research employed a research and development (R&D) process. Data was collected from three target groups: Group 1 was the target group for the focus group discussion consisted of 9 individuals who were experts in cultural heritage learning management, local artistic and cultural heritage, and education and student development. They were selected using purposive sampling to obtain accurate information based on principles and theories; Group 2 was the target group for using the innovation, consisted of 30 people from schools in the Pak Phraek old community, Kanchanaburi Province, selected through a volunteer method; and Group 3 consisted of 10 individuals who will receive the innovative prototype, selected through a volunteer process. The research instruments included the focus group discussion guide on innovative tools for promoting learning focused on the conservation of art and cultural heritage in the Pak Phraek old community, the learning evaluation form for conservation-based learning, and the opinion evaluation form regarding the prototype innovation handover activities. The research findings revealed that 1) an innovative prototype for promoting conservation-based learning of Art and Cultural Heritage in the Pak Phraek Old Community consisted of Part 1: Instructions for using the learning innovation; Part 2: Content; Part 3: Activities; Part 4: Guidelines for organizing learning activities; and Part 5: Appendices. Its quality was at the highest appropriate level (  = 4.77, S.D. = 0.35); 2) the results of using an innovative prototype for promoting conservation-based learning of Art and Cultural Heritage in the Pak Phraek old community showed that the learning outcomes in cultural heritage conservation in the old Pak Phraek community of the target group of students after using the innovation had an average percentage improvement of 27.50%, and the opinions of the group receiving the innovative model were at the highest level ( = 4.76, S.D. = 0.41).
