The quality of life for elderlies in KudphuengDistrict Administrative Organization of Suwannakhuha District in NongbuaLamphu Province

Abstract

The  objectives  of  this  research  included: to study  the  personal  characteristics, condition  of  living  and  problems of the elderly; to  study  the  level of quality  of  life of  the  elderly; to  compare the  level  of  the  quality  of  life  of  the  elderly classified  by gender, type and group of  age; and to propose  the  guidelines  for  development  of  quality  of  life  of the  elderly. The  population was the people with the age of 60 and above in the service area of Kudphueng Sub-district Administrative Organization including 503 persons in total. The calculated samples were 223 persons. The scopes  of  the  concepts include 4 aspects of physical health, mental, social relation  and environment. The  results  of  findings  were  as  follows. The overall level of quality of life of the elderly was at moderate level. The highest average was the environmental aspect and chronologically followed by the aspects of mental, social relation and physical health. The result of comparison of the level of quality of life of the elderly classified by gender was not different whereas by type and group of age was statistically significant at the level of .05. It was also found that the level of quality of life in environment aspect was different. Recommendations for the development of the quality of life of the elderly can be concluded as the followings. There should be home visits, transportation, emergency lines, public minded volunteers servicing at the village level, various channels for information service, promotion of the roles of the elderly in society, funeral fund, club of the elderly, establishments of relaxation and exercise, and hygienic dwelling and environment.
