DEVELOPMENT OF PARENT PARTICIPATION IN SUPPORT OF EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT IN THAILAND 4.0 CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER UNDER KHAO PHANG KRAI SUBDISTRICT ADMINISTRATION ORGANIZATION NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) to study the current conditions of development of parents’ participation in promoting early childhood development in Thailand 4.0, Child Development center under the Khao Phang Krai Sub-district Administration Organization 2) to explore the guidelines for the development of parents' participation in promoting early childhood development in Thailand 4.0, and  3) to propose guidelines from the study in the development and promotion of parents' participation in promoting early childhood development in Thailand 4.0. The study employed a qualitative research method by an in-depth interview with 12 early childhood teachers, child care teachers, a committee of child development centers, council members of the Phang Krai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, students' parents, academics or assigned persons and a group discussion with 7 experts.


              The findings were as follows:


             1) Concerning the current condition of the development of parents’ participation, it was found that current conditions are consisting of  (1) the promotion of physical development, supporting the children to have the opportunity to develop the use of muscles about the nervous system in their daily activities, (2) promotion of emotional and psychological development, with parents caring closely with love and understanding, allowing children to learn and practice in a safe environment, (3) promotion social development by having a good model for parents, (4) promotion intellectual development in which parents can motivate children to be curious, daring to express opinions, training children to know, analyze and solve problems by themselves.


             2) Regarding the participation of parents, it was found that parents' participation consists of:  (1) in the body, the parents are interested and participated in the development of the children to have a healthy body with age-appropriate development and can use it daily life very well, (2) emotional and psychological, parents participate by cultivating children, knowing, sharing, being able to adapt to others (3) in terms of society, parents are involved in the training children to have social discipline, good relationships with others, (4) intellectually, parents are involved in promoting the use of Fine Motor Skills) and Gross Motor Skills and encourage children to use creativity, can think critically, and can solve the problem by themselves.


             3) In terms of guidelines and suggestions for the development of parents' participation in the early childhood development promotion in Thailand 4.0, guidelines and suggestions are; (1) in physical aspect; parents should participate in nutritional promotion and support appropriate sporting events with parental participation, (2) for emotional and mental aspects; there are counseling and understanding for parents to care for preschool children correctly and appropriately, and participating in important religious activities, (3) in social aspects; parents are involved in cultivating children with volunteer habits, sacrifices, and sharing, and give importance in acting, comments, and suggestions from parents, (4) for Intellectual development; parents are involved in creating teaching and learning materials for children to learn from real experience and creative use of technology media according to the Curriculum of the Early Childhood B.E. 2560.
