The study of learning achievement and comprehension reading ability of prathomsuksa 3 students by using SQ4R technique in conjunction with skills practice

Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) To develop the lesson plan by using SQ4R  technique  in  conjunction  with  skills  practice  exercises of  grade 3 students  with efficient criterion of 80/80; 2) to compare the learning achievement of grade 3 students by  using  SQ4R  technique in  conjunction  with  skills exercises  between pre-learning and post-learning; and 3) to compare reading comprehension ability of grade 3 students  between pre-learning and post-learning. The samples used in this research were 18 grade 3 students at Ban Huayhun School studying in the second semester of the academic year 2019. The samples were selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments were: 1) lesson plan by using SQ4R technique in conjunction with skills practice exercises; 2) learning achievement test in reading comprehension unit; 3) the measurement format of reading comprehension ability. The statistics for the data analysis were mean, standard deviation and t-test Dependent Sample. The results of the study were as the followings: 1) The efficiency of learning management plan by using SQ4R technique in conjunction with  skills  practice exercises of grade 3 students was as E₁/E₂  equal to 82.38/80.28 that was higher than the specified criterion at 80/80 2) Post-learning achievement of grade 3 students by using SQ4R technique in conjunction with skills practice exercises was higher than pre-learning with statistical significance at  the level of .05 3) The post-learning reading comprehension ability of grade 3 students was higher than pre-learning with statistical significance at the level of .05
