Beliefs About Worship Pu Ta Shrine of the Community in Sisaket Province

Abstract

The writer of this article studied and presented the concept of beliefs in the ancestor worship rituals of the communities in Srisaket Province. It is explicit that the communities in Srisaket Province have a belief in the way of life descended from the ancestors as the followings: (1) the belief in supernatural power; (2) the descended belief has become the tradition; (3) the belief in spirits of the ancestors; and (4) the belief in divinities by paying homage to the sacred things with power to protect them.  Beliefs are, thus, happened from the conditions that a person is assured and is ready to act according to the visible and invisible things i.e. a mysterious power that affects humans. Nowadays, there are, thus, various rituals to worship the spirits by mediating through the elders called “Taojum’ who are the persons communicating with the ancestral ghosts. These actions have been transmitted from generation to generation i.e. because it is something creating value for society. In other words, the Grandpas’ shrines are the sacred places of the communities that villagers respect. The results of the beliefs may not have been clearly proved but maintained the way of life. This depends on the values of the Grandpas' shrines that helps the people be in high spirits rather than gloomy. In addition, it effects the physical factors including unity and good tradition of the communities.
