Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) To study and analyze the cohabitation of the people in multicultural society in Pratu Tahpae community, Muang district, Chiangmai province; 2) To analyze the congruence of cohabitation principle of the people in multicultural society following each religious principle; and 3) To present the cohabitation model and method of the people in multicultural society that were concretely appropriate in Thai society. The findings of this research were as the followings: Cohabitation principle of the people was through creating understanding and acceptance of the difference among the people in thoughts, cultures and traditions among various races, languages and beliefs. The cohabitation principle promoted an open development in each community towards the equal society that brought the people to understand the difference and be interested in learning the difference that each one had. Cohabitation also promoted the acceptance of the difference in thoughts that the people had an attitude towards common living. This would result the cohabitation in the community to be efficient in their varieties.
