The Role of Lao Women's Federation in Educational Development in Pakse Teachers College, Champasak Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic

Abstract

This research was a mixed methodology research with the objective of studying the role of the participation of the Lao Women's Federation in educational development and the guidelines for development of the participation of the women’s federation for education development of Pakse Teachers College, Champasak Province, Lao PDR. The sampling groups in this study were 82 female teachers that were members of the Lao Women's Federation in Pakse Teachers College, Champasak Province, Lao PDR. The tools used in this research were questionnaires created through literature review and related researches. Data were analyzed in three forms including means, percentage and standard deviation. The results of the research were found as the followings.

1. The role of Lao Women's Federation participating in educational development of Pakse Teachers College, Champasak Province, Lao PDR, according to their real and expected roles, respondents had different level of opinions i.e. the real-role of the Lao Women's Federation participating in educational development of Pakse Teachers College was averagely at moderate level while the expected-role was averagely at high level.


2. Guidelines for the development of the participation of the Lao Women's Federation in educational development of Pakse Teachers College, Champasak Province, Lao PDR, most members of the federation proposed that more opportunities should be opened for women to develop themselves in technical aspect including: opening opportunity for women to express their potentials in technical management; promoting opportunities for women to have further education in both domestic and foreign countries; attentively encouraging women’s participation in technical aspect; opening opportunities for women to be promoted in various executive positions according to their potentials; and realizing gender roles in all activities.
