The Preparation of Students towards ASEAN Citizenship by the Teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) To study the levels of preparation of students towards ASEAN Citizenship by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province; 2) To compare the levels of preparation of students towards ASEAN Citizenship  by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province according to the sizes of schools; and 3) To study the problems and suggestions on preparation of students towards ASEAN Citizenship  by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province. This research was a survey research. The population for the study was 118 ASEAN Studies teachers teaching in schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in 2018. The Tools used in this research were questionnaires with reliability of the whole questionnaire at .98. Data were statistically analyzed in percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings were as follows: 1) The overall levels of action in preparation of students towards ASEAN Citizenship  by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province are at a high level (µ = 3.79). Considering by aspect, it was found that all aspects were at a high level that could be chronologically arranged from the highest to the lowest as the followings: knowledge and ability (µ = 3.88);  society and culture (µ = 3.78)  and communication (µ = 3.70). 2) In the comparison results of action levels in preparation of students towards ASEAN citizenship by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province as classified according to the different sizes of schools, it was found that the schools with different sizes had different levels of action preparation towards ASEAN citizenship of students both in overall and by aspect. 3) The problems and suggestions on action in preparation of students towards ASEAN Citizenship by the teachers under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 30 in Chaiyaphum Province were as follows: The conditions of problems included: (1) The learning activities of ASEAN citizenship had not yet been integrated with all the learning departments; (2) Some of the teachers still lacked the skill in English communication; and (3) Some teachers were not aware of the importance of ASEAN citizenship. Suggestions were as the followings: (1) The teachers should integrate ASEAN citizenship learning activities into all learning departments; (2) The teachers should develop themselves in English communication; (3) The teachers should be developed to be aware of the importance of ASEAN citizenship.
