Smart city : Development of Ceative Urban and Rural City of Buriram Province

Abstract

              The research titled Smart City: The Creative Urban and Rural Development of Buriram Province was a research and development i.e. qualitative research including documentary research for processing knowledge by studying the related principles and   thoughts through examining related scriptures, documents and researched works.  This also included gathering information from workshop that was in-depth interviews. The results of research found as follows. 1) In the process model of the creative urban and rural development of Buriram province, it was found that it was a sport city and a city of ancient Khmer culture according that Buriram United Football Club played a political role in building popularity among Buriram people. However, it still depended on the support of politicians. Nevertheless, the success of car racing tracks and football arena led the economic development as the source of Buriram Model. 2) In the area of creative urban and rural development of Buriram province, local identity was used as cultural roots. Localism also helped creative development. 3) In presentation of creative and sustainable urban and rural development, in addition to bringing sports as a means for developing Buriram province, identities in various areas of the province could also be utilized including dressing, languages, foods, local wisdom, architectures, plays, arts, music, beliefs, values and traditions. All of these components were cultural capitals that could be utilized in promoting tourism that helped changing Buriram from a passing city to be a staying city (tourist city).
