Public Participation in Life Quality Promotion of Sub-district Municipalities in Suphanburi Province

Abstract

This research aimed at: 1) Studying factors affecting public participation in life quality promotion of sub-district municipalities in Suphanburi Province; 2) Studying the level of public participation in life quality promotion of sub-district municipalities in Suphanburi Province; and 3) Studying steps and process of creation of public participation in life quality promotion of sub-district municipalities in Suphanburi Province. The researcher employed Mixed Methods Research including: 1) the qualitative research, obtaining data from interviewing mayors of 25 sub-district municipalities and analyzing data through content analysis; 2) the quantitative data, collecting data through questionnaires from 400 respondents living in 25 sub-district municipalities of Suphanburi Province and analyzing data by Multiple Linear Regression. With regard to the qualitative research, it revealed that the steps and process of creation of public participation in life quality promotion of sub-district municipalities in Suphanburi Province was the creation of knowledge and understanding for the people in communities towards creation of a concrete participation process through arts, culture and traditions of the communities as the tools for driving other activities. With regard to the quantitative research, it indicated that the internal organizational factors affecting public participation in life quality promotion with regard to culture aspect was overall at a high level. The external organizational factors affecting public participation in life quality promotion with regard to supervising aspect was overall at a high level. With regard to the good governance principle affecting public participation in life quality promotion, the participation aspect was overall at a high level and with regard to the level of public participation in life quality promotion, women promotion aspect was overall at a high level. The recommendation was to study other factors affecting public participation in life quality promotion to acknowledge in-depth details for the success in providing public service.
