DEVELOPMENT OF JIGSAW COOPERATIVE LEARNING ACTIVITIES ON VOCATIONAL ENGLISH VOCABULARIES OF HIGH VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATE STUDENTS

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as the followings: 1) To develop jigsaw cooperative learning plan on vocational English vocabularies in high vocational certificate students to be effective according to criteria 80/80; 2) to compare learning achievement of students after studying through jigsaw cooperative learning activity on vocational English vocabularies with test scores before studying; and 3) To study the satisfaction of students towards the jigsaw cooperative learning activity plan on vocational English vocabularies. The sample group used in this research was a class of 30 high vocational certificate students in Hotel Management studying in the second semester of the academic year 2019, Loeng Nok Tha Vocational College, Yasothon Province. It was selected by random sampling. The research instruments included: 1) jigsaw cooperative learning plan; 2) the learning achievement test; and 3) a form for measuring satisfaction of the students towards jigsaw cooperative learning plan on vocational English vocabularies. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test dependent samples. The results of the research were as follows: 1) Jigsaw cooperative learning activities on vocational English vocabularies was effective equal to 88.01 / 88.97 that was higher than the set criteria; 2) The learning achievement of high vocational certificate students from taking the objective test with multiple choices before and after studying, it was found that the post-test scores of the students were higher than before learning with statistical significance at the level of .05; and 3)  The satisfaction of the students with the jigsaw cooperative learning activities in vocational English vocabulary was at a high level.
