THE EFFECT OF TALE TELLING ACTIVITIES FOR ENHANCING BASIC MATHEMATICAL ABILITY OF KINDERGARTEN 3

Abstract

The objectives of this research included: 1) To study the effect of the tale telling activities for enhancing basic mathematical ability of Kindergarten 3; and 2) To compare basic mathematical ability of kindergarten students before and after the implementation of tale telling activities. The sampling groups selected by Simple Random Sampling included 18 kindergarten level 3 students aged between 5-6 years studying in the second semester of the academic year 2019 at Ban Non-ngam School, Na Yia District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The school was under the supervision of Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Service Area Office 4. The experiment was conducted in a period of 4 weeks from Monday to Friday between 09.20 – 10.00 a.m. The research tools were 20 experience learning lessons and kindergarten basic mathematical ability test. The statistics used for data analysis included mean, standard deviation and t-test (dependent-samples t-test analysis. The research findings were as the followings. The overall and by aspect of basic mathematical ability of the early childhood children experienced from tale telling activities was averagely at high level. In comparison between pre and post experiencing the tale telling activities, the basic mathematical ability of the post experiencing was higher than the pre one with the statistical significance at the level of .01
