APPLICATION OF PUNNAKIRIYA-VATTHU PRINCIPLE IN THE PEOPLE’S WAY OF LIFE IN MUANG DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE (2556 B.E.)

Abstract

The objectives of this research included: 1) To study an application of Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life of the people in Muang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province; 2) To study individual factors and supporting factors related to the application of Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life of the people; 3) To propose the guidelines for promoting the application of Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life of the people and to produce practical manual for properly applying Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life. Simple random sampling was used for selecting 384 informants. Data were collected through questionnaire and were analyzed and processed to find statistics of the data by computer program. The findings were as follows: 1) The overall average of the application of Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life of the people in Muang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province (2556 B.E.) was at a high level; 2) Personal factors was crucial in relation to the application of Punnakiriya-vatthu Principle in the way of life of the people in Muang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province (2556 B.E.) that was statistically significant at the level of 0.05. For problems and recommendations, the item with the highest frequency was that the people scarcely had time for merit making in the temple; followed by scarcely had time for studying Dhamma especially the observation of the precepts. For the guidelines of promotion, the item with the highest frequency was that the people should find time for merit making in the temple; followed by finding time for studying Dhamma especially the precepts observation.
