CURRICULUM ADMINISTRATION FOR PROMOTING THE INSTRUCTION ON GROSS MOTOR SKILLS FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AT NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCIAL SPECIAL EDUCATION CENTER

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the conditions of curriculum administration of the instruction on gross motor skills for children with disabilities at Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Special Education Center; 2) to investigate the draft of curriculum administration for promotion of the instruction on gross motor skills for children with disabilities at Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Special Education Center; and 3) to present curriculum administration for promotion of the instruction on gross motor skills for children with disabilities at Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Special Education Center. The research model included 3 steps: 1) the study on the conditions of administration from 10 key informants consisting of an administrator,  a special education teacher, multidisciplinary teachers and teachers; 2) the draft of the curriculum administration from 3 key informants consisting of an administrator and teachers graduated in special education major; 3) the presentation of curriculum administration from 8 key informants consisting of  an administrator, special education specialists, a class teacher, an educational supervisor who was responsible for special education, a chairman of the School Education Committee. The research was conducted by studying related documents and researches, interviewing, and group discussing. The instruments used included interview forms and issues for focus group discussion. The results of this research were as follows: 1) The conditions of the curriculum administration on the gross motor skills for children with disabilities consisted of 7 aspects: the preparation of the school; the preparation of the curriculum; the plan for the implementation of the curriculum; the administration of the curriculum; the supervision, the control, follow-up and evaluation; and the conclusion of the implementation. The improvement of curriculum development of the Special Education Center in the Gross Motor Skills for children with disabilities did not cover the development process; 2) The results of the draft of the curriculum administration to promote the instruction on the Gross Motor Skills consisted of: title, principles and rationale, objectives, guidelines for implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; 3) The result of the presentation of the curriculum administration showed that it was suitable, possible and beneficial and it also included complete components.
