TACTICS IN THAI LITERATURE MORAL DISCOURSE IN THE TEXTBOOKS OF THAI LANGUAGE FOR STUDENTS IN GRADE 7-12

Abstract

This research article aimed to study the tactics of introducing Thai literature moral discourse through a Thai textbook entitled Wannakadee Wijak for students in grade 7-12.The study of the Thai textbook entitled Wannakadee Wijak in the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E.2551 including 34 stories used the conceptual framework on tactics of introducing and the concept of the components of the literature and literary works. The results of this research were as follows. The teachings in the Thai textbook entitled Wannakadee Wijak used tactics in introducing the teachings through vocabularies and linguistic arts by using rhetorical image. Most tactics used were vocabularies including modality, conditional sentences, rhetorical questions and categories of sound. Most tactics introduced through linguistic arts by using rhetorical images were: simile, metaphor, hyperbole and metonymy. The tactics used for introducing the literature and literary works included 4 main elements including: tactics through the core of the stories; tactics through characters; tactics through dialogue; and tactics through scenes and settings.
