A STUDY ON APPROACHES IN PROMOTING BUDDHIST TOURISM POTENTIALS OF WAT PHRACHAOYAI-ONGTUE UBON RATCHATHANI PROVINCE

Abstract

This article included the following objectives: 1) to study the approaches in promoting Buddhist tourism potentials; 2) to study Buddhist tourism potentials of Wat Tai Phrachaoyai-Ongtue, Ubon Ratchathani Province; 3) to study the approaches in promoting Buddhist tourism potentials of Wat Tai Phrachaoyai-Ongtue, Ubon Ratchathani Province. It was a qualitative research. The findings of this research were as follows. 1) The approaches in promoting tourism potentials included: (1.1) imparting tourism information and providing knowledge on tourism; (1.2) increasing the number of domestic tourists in high season; (1.3) maintaining the tourism market; (1.4) increasing the recognition and credibility in tourism; (1.5) increasing the number of tourists. 2) Buddhist tourism potentials of Wat Tai Phrachaoyai-Ongtue were in the following aspects: (2.1) acceleration in developing, reconstructing and restoring the cultural heritage and properties; (2.2) administrating tourism through proactive marketing strategy; (2.3) increasing varieties of tourism models; (2.4) increasing facility and safety measures; (5) urgently restoring the cooperation of other localities in tourism potentials of Wat Tai  Phrachaoyai-Ongtue.  3) Approaches for promoting Buddhist tourism potentials of Wat Tai Phrachaoyai-Ongtue included the following aspects. (3.1) religious ceremonial activities on Buddhist important days such as Makha Bucha Day, Buddhist Lent Day, The End of Buddhist Lent Day, Vesak Day; (3.2) recreational activities including annual ceremonial days, temple’s ceremonies, auspicious events such as Songkran Festival, Loy Krathong Festival; (3.3) Dhamma practice activities and other internal activities such as restoration of various religious artifacts of the temple, Kathin Festival, Phapah Festival (make an off-season offering to the monks), ordination; (3.4) spiritual anchoring activities organized by each purpose.
