ROPE PRODUCTS: AN INTEGRATION MODEL OF BUDDHISM AND MODERN SCIENCE IN RIGHT LIVELIHOOD DEVELOPMENT TOWARDS INTERNATIONAL LEVEL THROUGH LOCAL WISDOM IN NAKHONRATCHASIMA PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this article included: 1) to study the state of problems, values and the process of products from ropes in Nakhon Ratchasima Province; 2) to develop right livelihood through local wisdom (rope products) in Nakhon Ratchasima Province towards international level; 3) to study the integration model of Buddhism and modern science in right livelihood development in rope products towards international level through local cultural wisdom in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The research results were as follows. 1) Regarding the state of problems, values and process of rope products in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, it consisted four groups of rope weaving handicraft. According to the concepts and theories related to weaving handicrafts and community commodity production,  information could be analyzed on state of problems, values ​​and processes of rope products. Major problems found were marketing, distribution channels that will create values, production process, designs and brands that still lack concrete patterns and guidelines of operation. 2) In the development of right livelihood through local wisdom (rope production) towards international level in Nakhon Ratchasima Province,  state of the problems of all four groups were: the lack of funds and cycad work in production; the lack of physical place to sell products; the lack of publicity; the lack of opportunity to bring the products to participate in the trade show i.e. because the lack of travel expenses; and sales of product of each group are not standardized in prices. 3) Regarding the integration model of Buddhism and modern science in the development of the right livelihood of products from ropes towards the international level through local cultural wisdom of the communities in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, the patterns of participation are crucial in rope production activities and selling rope products that are elaborate, durable and beautiful by using local resources and resources purchased from factories such as nylon and plastic ropes. Advice on group management also becomes the reinforcement of the group for added value in development. This will help the groups be strengthened and self-reliable with clarified objectives and management process.
