THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY AND THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS ADMINISTRATION OF SCHOOLS UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 12

Abstract

The objectives of this research included: 1) to study the state of schools as a professional learning community;  2) to study the effectiveness of academic affairs administration of the schools; 3) to study the relationship between the state of schools as a professional learning community and effectiveness of academic affairs administration of the schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 12. The samples in this research were 351 teachers. The research instrument was a rating scale questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using a computer program for frequency distribution, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The statistics for hypothesis testing was Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The findings of this research were as follows. 1) The overall state of being a professional learning community of the schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 12 was at a high level. When it was considered by aspect, it was found as follows: the highest level was the support of the schools; followed by the participation in operation; and the lowest aspect was the common vision and values.  2. The overall effectiveness of academic affairs administration of the schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 12 was at a high level. When it was considered by aspect, it included both the highest and high levels as follows. The highest aspect was the evaluation, assessment and transferring credits of the study. This was followed by the aspect of teaching and learning management in the schools. and the lowest aspect was educational supervision.  3. The state of being professional learning community had a positive relation with the effectiveness of academic affairs administration while the overall level was rather low with the value of R=.152 with statistical significance at the level of .01.
