THE USE OF IMAGINARY LANGUAGE TO PRESENT THE IDEOLOGY IN THE THAI RECITATION

Abstract

This research aims to study the use of imaginary language to present the ideology in the Thai recitation. The results of this research can be concluded as follows. Three ideologies are found including: national ideology, good child ideology and ideology of learning. National ideology is divided into 3 sets of ideas: ideology related to patriotism, ideology related to religion and the ideology related to the monarchy. Regarding the ideology related to patriotism, the used imaginary language is easily understood through Thai identity. In the ideology related to religion, the used imaginary language refers to worshipping the religion and strictly observing the religious practice. For ideology related to the monarchy, the used imaginary language is presented through simple language that rouses the emotions of respecting the monarchy. Regarding good child ideology, the used imaginary language focuses on cultivating generosity. In ideology of learning, the imaginary language is used: to convey the explicit meaning of learning; to give an example of comparison to see the benefit of learning; and also to use the imaginary comparison in presenting the importance of having knowledge.
