STUDY OF DISEASE TREATMENT IN BHESAJJA KHANDAKA

Abstract

This academic article presents To study disease and medicine which take place in Buddhism medical discipline 2.) To analyze the process of curing in Buddhism medical discipline. The result was found that most of the disease cause from 8 factors, for instances, The disease caused from bile,The disease caused from phlem,The disease caused from wind,The disease caused from bile,phlem,wind,The disease caused from season change,The disease caused from bodily movement irregularly,The disease caused from over effort,The disease caused from the result of action(Vipaka Mamma). This disease also affect both externally and internally to the people. Externally illness contains foot disease, Impetigo, Scabies, and rash all over the body. At the same time, internally sickness includes jaundice, eye infection, flu, flatulence, the bite from insects, being possessed by the spirit and mental illness also is classified in this category. The treatment in Buddhism medical discipline explained that the medications being used in the cure are produced by serval herbs which are made from plant’s essence, mineral, raw meat, fresh animal blood and by product of cooking such as rice water, broth and water from boiling green beans. The study shows that the first step of curing is to analyze the symptoms and find the root of disease. Secondly, the study efficiency of medications in order to remedy the sickness. For example, drug for external use, oral drug, smoked theory, using fresh meat and animal bloods to cleanse the possessed people, using local herbs to neutralize poison from snakes and for the metal illness can be healed by virtue, concentration and discernment (wisdom). In this research proved that Buddhism medical discipline (traditional medicine) and Conventional medicine are relatively similar, however, some may change and some are disappeared.
