MANAGEMENT SKILLS IN THE 21ST CENTURY OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS UNDER PHATTHALUNG PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 1

Abstract

This research was study about management skills in the 21^st century of administrators school under Phatthalung Primary Education Service Area Office 1. This research aimed to 1) study management skills in the 21^st century of school administrators, 2) compare management skills in the 21^st century of school administrators, grouped by work position, education level, work experience and size of the school, and 3) study suggestions regarding management skills in the 21^st century of administrators. The sample group consisted of 291 administrators and teachers. This research is a quantitative research by using a questionnaire. Study tools were five-scale questionnaires. Statistics used in data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques and Scheff’s method of paired comparison was utilized. The research results found that 1) management skills in the 21^st century of administrators were at the high level, 2) comparison results of management skills in the 21st century of administrators were found that samples with different positions, education level, and work experience did not have different opinions on the management skills in the 21st century of administrators. However, administrators and teachers who worked in schools of different sizes significantly showed their differences opinions on the 21st century administrative skills of school administrators at the .001 level, and 3) the first three management skills in the 21st century of administrators which the samples suggested administrators should have were morality and ethics skill, leadership skill and the technology and digital skill respectively. This research suggests that the training about the management skills in the 21^st century should be arranged for school administrators in order to enhance their knowledge and awareness about the importance of
the management skills in the 21^st century. The training can lead to concreate directions for school development and students’ quality enhancement.
