THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF ETHICAL COMPETENCES NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract

This quasi-experimental research study The objectives are 1. to study the effectiveness of ethical competency development and 2. to compare the mean ethical competency before and after participating in ethical development activities among students of the Faculty of Nursing. Roi Et Rajabhat University, academic year 2020 , the sample group is Faculty of Nursing students Roi Et Rajabhat University Specific selection ( Purposive Sampling  of 74 people  Ethical competency development activities. According to Piaget 's concept of ethical learning behavior development consistsof 1 teaching and learning meditation courses 15 times 3 each.   Hour  2 ) Home room activity 8 times, 1 hour each time  3 ) Volunteer activity to attend meditation camp 1 time, duration 3 days . Data were collected by Ethical Competency Scale For nursing students of Jungera Janthamungkhun  (2017) , which was created by referring to the nursing council's standard framework, the IOC value is 0 . 60 -1 . 00. The power of classification is 0 . 94 - 0 . 99  Reliability by Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.99. Assessment criteria for the scores obtained from the spatial measurement 4.21–5.00 scores were the most competency,  3.41-4.20 scores High performance, 2.61-3.40 scores Medium performance, 1.81-2.60   points low performance level, and  1.00 – 1.80   points  lowest performance level. The statistics used to analyze the data consisted of Frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and intragroup differences before and after development were compared using Pair Sample t-test statistics and set the significance level at .05. The results showed that afterparticipating in ethical competency development activities for nursing students ethical competence The average score after participating in development activities increased more than before in almost all aspects. As follows, the overall ethical competence increased the most (=4.48,SD=.34 :=4.00,SD=.37 ), followed by sacrifice ( =4 . 55, SD=.51  =4.34, SD=.59 ) Maintaining discipline ( =4.57, SD=.38 : =4.39, SD=.44 ) unity (=4 . 55, SD=.55  =4.36,SD=.69 )  Integrity ( =4 . 51, SD=.47 : =4.32, SD=.66 Perseverance (  =4 . 39, SD=0.63  =4.24, SD=0.62  and responsibility (  =4 . 39, SD=.44  =4.28, SD=.57 )  respectively, when comparing the average ethical competency scores before and after participating in ethical development activities of nursing students. Roi Et Rajabhat University The results showed that average performance score honesty Discipline sacrifice Unity and ethics as a whole There was a statistically significant difference ( p < .01 ).
