AN APPLICATION OF IDDHIPĀDA 4 IN THE SELF-CONDUCT OF MATHAYOMSUKSA 1 STUDENTS AT SADAO-KHANCHAI- KAMPALANON-ANUSORN SCHOOL, SADAO DISTRICT, SONGKHLA PROVINCE

Abstract
The objectives of this article were as follows: 1) to study the concepts for self-conduct of students in Mathayomsuksa 1 at Sadao Khanchai Kampalanonanusorn School, Sadao District, Songkhla Province; 2) to study the Iddhipāda 4 principle appearing in Theravada Buddhist doctrine; and 3) to apply Iddhipāda 4 principle for self-conduct of Mathayomsuksa 1 students at Sadao Khanchai Kampalanonanusorn School, Sadao District, Songkhla Province. It was a qualitative research focusing on documentary research and in-depth interviews. The research results were descriptively presented. The findings of this research were as follows. 1) Regarding the concept for self-conduct of students, it was found that the causes of aggressive behavior of students were from the lack of consciousness of parents. The students were not well taken care with either family warmth or social cooperation. Parents also lacked understanding in the behavior of teenagers. 2) According to the principle of Iddhipāda 4 appearing in Theravada Buddhist doctrine, it was found that Iddhipāda 4 was the significant Dhamma principle leading to success including: Chanda (aspiration), Viriya (effort), Citta (dedication), and Vimansa (investigation). 3) Regarding an application of Iddhipāda 4 in the self-conduct of Mathayom Suksa 1 students at Sadao Khanchai Kampalanonanusorn School, Sadao District, Songkhla Province, it was found that the Dhamma principle led to an improved self-conduct of students in learning, speaking and responsibility.
