THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FACEBOOK USAGE, POLITICAL NEWS AND POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT, UBON RATCHATHANI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objective of this quantitative research is to examine the relationship Facebook usage, political news and political engagement by using 28 items of a questionnaire with 387 respondents in Ubonratchatanee by simple random. The statistical analysis are frequency percentage mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, MANOVA and correlation. The research results revealed that the following of political news through traditional media such as newspaper, radio, television of the most of respondents who used sometimes, used infrequently, used every day and never used, demonstrated 35.1%, 31.8%, 17.40% and 15.70%, respectively. Moreover, the mean of Facebook usage for news is moderate at 2.53 (SD = .61) and also contributed no statistically significant difference, separated by gender, age, education.
