GUIDELINES FOR INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE OF SCHOOLS UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE SURIN

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study current conditions of internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin; 2) to compare an internal quality assurance performance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin based on the school-size; and 3) to develop guidelines for internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin. The sample group comprised of 70 schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin classified by the school-size. The key informants were 210 school administrators, teachers who are responsible for quality assurance, and academic teachers. Guidelines for internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin was developed through a focused-group discussion of 9 experts. Statistics used for data analysis were mean and standard deviation while the hypotheses were tested using F-test. The study found that:

1) The overall current condition of internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin is at the highest level. When considering each aspect, all aspects relating to the current conditions of internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin is also at the highest level. 2) According to the study to compare the performance of internal quality assurance of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin based on the school-size, the study revealed that the average mean scores of quality assurance performance among the different school-size are significant different at .05 of statistical level. However, in term of a pair different testing, the study showed that the average mean score of the quality assurance performance of large-sized schools is significantly higher than that of the extra-large-sized schools, medium-sized school, and small-sized schools. 3) Guidelines for developing quality assurance performance under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Surin are proposed as follows.  Defining educational standards of schools through a participatory process of everyone by educating, setting, and proceeding to the setting goals.
